James Greenstone

Dr Greenstone is a Psychotherapist and Police Behavioral Health Specialist, and has been in practice for over 40 years. He served as the Director of Psychological Services for the Fort Worth, Texas Police Department and as Adjunct Professor of Law at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. He was the chief instructor in Hostage and Crisis Negotiations for the North Central Texas Council of Governments and has trained negotiators both nationally and internationally. He is a graduate of the Metropolitan Police Service National Negotiators Course at Hendon, England, and of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Hostage and Crisis Negotiations Training Program at Quantico, Virginia, USA. Currently, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the 15-year-old Journal of Police Crisis Negotiations published by the Taylor and Francis Group under the Routledge brand, and is the author of The Elements of Police Hostage and Crisis Negotiations: Critical Incidents and How to Respond to Them published by Charles C Thomas Publishers. Dr Greenstone is a member of the Graduate Psychology and Criminal Justice Faculty of Capella and Walden Universities, and was recently selected to the Ethics Consortium of the Tarrant County, Texas Medical Society because of his interest in alternate standards of care during mass casualty and disaster incidents.
