COPE US Seminar 2010 and US Forum

Following on from the success of COPE’s first US seminar last year and requests from members for a COPE Forum in the US, COPE is pleased to announce that it will hold a COPE Forum on the afternoon of 29 November (2 - 5 pm) followed by a whole day seminar on 30 November. The theme of this year’s US seminar is Plagiarism. Editors, authors and all those interested in improving the standard of publication ethics are welcome. The programme can be download here.
The seminar will include invited talks:

  • Plagiarism in the electronic age, from the former editor of Annals of Internal Medicine, Harold Sox
  • An update from CrossCheck on their plagiarism screening project
  • The ethics of publishing police hostage and barricade situations: protecting identities
  • COPing with math

In addition, there will be:

  • Breakout sessions in the afternoon with discussion of related cases.
  • Opportunities to network with other editors and share your experiences and challenges.

The seminar is free for COPE members and £300 for non-members. Numbers are limited and early booking is advisable. To register, please complete the registration form below.

THE CLOSING DATE FOR REGISTRATION IS 12 NOVEMBER 2010

Members both attending and not attending the seminar are invited to submit cases for the Forum on 29 November. COPE would like those presenting the cases to be at the meeting either in person or by telephone to present the case. Please submit cases to the administrator by 12 November 2010.
