COPE strategy
COPE's strategic plan for 2020-2023 builds on COPE's mission to contribute to scholarly integrity.
We will continue to provide the support that we currently offer, while focusing on diversity, inclusivity and the growth of COPE membership, across all disciplines and regions. We plan to deliver more timely responses to the evolving and challenging publication ethics issues faced by our members.
Our purpose
Educate and advance knowledge in methods of safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record.
Our vision
To create a future in which ethical practice in scholarship is the cultural norm.
Our mission
COPE’s mission is built around three core principles:
- providing practical resources to educate and support our members
- providing leadership in thinking on publication ethics
- offering a neutral, professional voice in current debates
Four strategic priorities 2020-2023
Range
We will extend the range of our resources to meet the needs of all members, irrespective of discipline, and develop new resources to meet the needs of universities and producers of non-journal scholarly products.
Reach
We will carry out a targeted campaign to increase and extend awareness of COPE across all sectors, disciplines and geographical areas, in particular those where we are currently underrepresented, as well as within our current membership.
Responsiveness
We will be more responsive to ethical issues in scholarly work and its publication as they arise.
Revenue
We will have expanded our membership and established more sources of revenue to sustain our mission beyond 2023.
